I ventured into the movie industry in 2000 after a lifetime as a magician, since when I have had acting roles in over 50 short independent movies, done narrations for quite a few, one feature film, been a BG in hundreds of movies (literally!), produced and directed a couple of short movies for the ACTRA Co-op competition - "The Intimmydator" and "Toques Off, Stetsons On", both of which are on YouTube or on my site.
For 2 years I was the Chair of the ACTRA Apprentice Caucus in Toronto and am a big fan of our student movie makers who deserve a lot more support than they get!
My web site is at www.john-henley.com Check out the short movie clips, especially the trailer for "Arthur Moore and the Lone Wolf" which was selected to close the recent RUFF film festival.
I am also an ardent promoter of Hamilton as a town (and area) which should look at having its own sound stages.
I am in the process of auditioning for student films to get experience and exposure. You were mentioning a while ago that you had information about what it takes to become an actra apprentice. Would I need extensive experience for such a thing? Any information you can provide may really be bennificial in the future. Thanks John. Hope all is good with you.
Many thanks for your message and very nice to hear from you indeed. Yes it goes back a few years doesn't it? I had to, regrettably, relinquish my "Official Photographer" status at The Players Guild and Dundas and other groups a couple of years ago in order fro me to concentrate on my documentary films. It was hard because I had been doing the Players Guild photos for thirty years. Ah well - that's the way it is. I see you have been very active with your acting career.
